Dressed in the colonial fashion, the characters of this series of photographies sublimate the sorrowful history of South Africa. Juxtaposing the times, Andile Buka underlines the hardships and the denial from which suffered the black South-African athletes to be recognized. This project named Sartists Sports aimed at correcting the prejudices against black athletes’ history. The vintage outfits from the Apartheid area are re-appropriated and so the photographer wanted to remind the importance of sport in the black south-african culture.
