Georgia O’Keeffe was best known for her large-scale paintings of flowers and landscapes, which were often infused with sexual energy. Yet she was also a great photographer: the prolific artist was constantly surrounded by the medium, having been married to photographer Alfred Stieglitz. Georgia O’Keeffe, Photographer is the first exhibition devoted to O’Keeffe’s work as a photographer. Nearly 100 photographs from recently examined archives reveal the American icon’s modernist approach. The photographs are complemented by paintings and drawings that represent the full range of his career. In the United States, until 12 June, an exhibition will be devoted to Georgia O’Keefe as a photographer. This exhibition is organised by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in collaboration with the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Santa Fe.
