Since almost ten years, French photographer Franck Bohbot, based in New York, surprises us with his atmospherical and dreamy series, inspired by a true passion for cinema. His cliches play with the geometry of shapes and lights, making our senses lose into a frame rich of unexpected details. “I started doing photos for some movies, then, I tried to develop my own series, centered on architecture, spaces, urbain environment” he said us in an interview.
In his last series, Park Road, he focuses on nocturnal life in a Brooklyn park, catching all the daily details of this very particular urbain landscape, always looking for cinematic scenes. The viewer is therefore caught between romantism and surreal, almost like in a Jim Jarmusch film. His universe is indeed full of references to his two favourite photographers, Julius Shulman & Arnold Newman. With Park Road, he continues his aesthetic search on architecture and metropolitan spaces.
