Dancing devils of Liberia are a part of Poro culture, the traditional culture of the country. They are not considered as evil presences, on the contrary, they are able to bring order and justice in the society by, sometimes, punishing men.
The devils used to dance only for special festivities, however they started to exhibit also during christian recurrences because of American colonization.
Today, this tradition is disappearing and becoming more and more underground. Conor Beary shoot this unique tradition.
