« Growing up in nature, I naturally choose to focus on cityscape in my work », says Ryoji Iwata. This Japanese photographer and architect that lives in Tokyo started photography by himself and is a real self-taught. « When I was junior high school student, I took film pictures with my father’s old camera for the first time, I didn’t put my heart into photography at that time. Several years after, smartphones and instagram made me re-discover taking pictures. It made it easier to make them, edit them and share them ». With this series called « cityscape », the artist decided to adventure himself into high places like buildings, footbridges, external stairways to offer another look on Tokyo’s animated streets. « As an architect, I also pay attention to composition, layout and proportions ».
