Magdalena del Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón, best known as Frida Kahlo, painter recognized all over the world for her self-portraits which testify of the fragility and the difficulty of her condition, became an icon due to her artistic originality. Her artworks are the assertion of a strong Mexican identity, cultural elements of which are clearly recognizable in her paintings. She died at the age of 47, by writing in her journal : ” I hope that the exit will be joyful… and I hope to never come back”.
