From his road trip in Peru, Paolo Pettigiani brought back a series of infrared photos. Familiar with the technique, which he had already implemented in the Maldives, mont Blanc and Dubaï, the Italian photographer and artistic director this time captured an island of green in the middle of the desert of the province of Palpa.

Tinted with pink and white, his infrared photos highlight the contrast between the aridity of the mountains and the vegetation found in the hollow of the peaks. “Elements with chlorophyll, such as grass, leaves and trees, strongly reflect this infrared light, invisible to the human eyes, explains the photographer. These mountains instead, being dry and without organic matter, turn white on infrared photography.”
