Since 2010, Tommy Kha has kissed a lot of people. Not because he unleashes passions, but because the photographer, established between Brooklyn, NY and Memphis, TN, put these kisses at the heart of his series “Return to Sender”. For this performance-based art project, Tommy Kha asks people – who he knows more or less – to kiss him, respecting two conditions : it must be on the lips, and only during the night. During this time, the artist remains stoic and only receives the kiss, while immortalizing it with a self-timer.
With these sometimes awkward, surprising or even romantic kisses, Tommy Kha conducts a sort of social experiment in which he questions the situations that can result from an intimate gesture with an unknown person.
