German photographer Stephan Zirwes takes us over Swiss glaciers in the Alps for his latest series. Covered with huge fleeces to prevent their melting, if these giants seem to be a real force of nature, they actually are more than ever weakened by global warming.

«Ice is the storage of 70% of water resources on earth. The glaciers are having a massive influence on the biodiversity of their surroundings and are at the mercy of climate change. Covering the glaciers is a desperate attempt to prevent the fast and ongoing process of melting», he explains. Like a large bandage, these protections try to preserve their existence on earth. A series which is as beautiful as alarming.
