Chris Engman, mentioned earlier, is a Los Angeles-based photographer who could be described as master of illusion. Indeed, the artist sets large-scale natural landscape shots such as country settings, deserts or caves, on walls, ceilings and floors of domestic rooms.

His work titled Containment, which features more than three hundred individual prints, allows visitors to enter the breathtaking world of illusion. Visitors find themselves at the edge of a stream, surrounded by a dense forest, and under a sky barely visible because of the many branches crossing it. The artist explains that, from a distance, one believes to see a real landscape and that the more we continue into the illusion-room, the more it appears distorted, unreal. The visitor thus understands that he has been fooled by what his own perception has communicated to him.
