We’ve come to know and love the work of French photographer Romain Veillon, who is drawn to mysterious, abandoned locations such as casinos, amusement parks and buildings. Two years ago, Veillon traveled across Japan to document as many derelict structures he could come across. The series, Sonatine, is the culmination of these efforts. Love hotels, strip clubs, onsens, schools, theme parks, factories and whole villages are documented in this eerie and haunting collection. Veillon voiced out his surprise at how these neglected structures had submitted to a very small amount, if any, of vandalism, leaving most of the furniture and objects intact. More on Instagram.
