Nicaragua is the second poorest country in Latin America. An earthquake, two civil wars and a high debt have only worsened its situation since the 70s. The country is very dependent from the international aid and particularly from the United States. This photographic series by Nicolas Lepiller aims on the one hand to share the daily life of this still little-known people and on the other hand, to ponder the effects of large commercial projects on our world, such as the important canal project between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean which is under study and, if realized, could literally transform the country’s economic life.
