For a few years now, the French director Cedric Ih has been photographing strangers in the streets and public spaces. He realized the aesthetic potential of these stolen photos, decided to name this series «Silhouettes», and currently works on this project on a regular basis. What interests him above all is the poetic and almost imperceptible link that exists between the models’ spontaneity and his intrusion into their world and intimacy.

It’s also more difficult technically because he has to use a suitable lens to shoot from a distance, and he explains that it’s rare to find a good street lighting. «I must capture the perfect moment when a person stands under a light, providing a workable background for me to subtly catch an impromptu instant, that’s why I always keep my camera with me, you never know!», he says.
