Pittsburgh is a commuter city, where people from the suburbs park their cars in the lots surrounding its downtown area. In his series Booths, photographer Tom M Johnson captures the forgettable and often overlooked parking lot booths and the attendants that man them. Drawn to the isolation of this particular field of work, Johnson studies the symbiotic relationship between man and shelter: “The attendant needs the booth for comfort and function; the booth needs its occupant for significance.”
