Artists Ali Cha’aban et Rayan Nawawi are remembering the 90s through a photography series for Nike which highlights the famous Nike Air Max 97. The serie called “Satellite Culture” reminds us of a time before Internet. The captured elements are not innocuous: the thobe, which is the traditional Arabic garment, is central. It is the heritage that manage to cross time boundaries. Then, there is an old fridge with wheels, a big satellite wearing the Nike swoosh and a airer with white clothes hanging… All those objects tell a story and are an ode to the simplicity of the 90s – “a simpler time that appreciated simpler things”.
