A beautiful retrospective have just been opened at the Paris Jeu de Paume, dedicated to Dutch photographer Ed van der Elsken. “La Vie Folle” is the title of the exhibition, the first one entirely focused on the artist in France. His work, going from the 50ies to the 80ies, from Paris to China, is a virtuous mix of documentary and fiction, spontaneous portraits and setting, romance and realism. Ed van der Elsken describes Paris with a truthful regard, far from the naive and cliches romantic vision of Paris promoted by his colleagues. His photography has an incredible texture and an unforgettable aura.
