Flower artist and botanical sculptor, Azuma Makoto imagined “In Bloom”, an experimental project which puts flowers in unnatural situations. For the first installment of this surprising series, entitled “Exobiotanica”, Azuma Makoto’s studio launched flowers into the stratosphere. In this hostile environment, so far away from their natural habitat, flowers and plants had to cope with temperatures under -47F. The result is a wonderful photographic series which documents the ascent and the transformation of the plants in these extreme conditions.
For the next installment, the Japanese artist will put flower creations in the depths of the ocean.
