Photographer Lenghi Teng has a lot of influences to inspire her art: she was born in Vietnam, grew up in a Chinese family, and moved to the Netherlands when she was three years old. Today, she creates expressive portraits centered on human vulnerability and fragility. Her subjects are often women, who carry an aura of mystery that complements the silent and serene environments she photographs them in. “I see and believe in the beauty and strength of vulnerability,” Teng declares. “To be vulnerable, the ability to be open, is the key to connect with other people and yourself.” Teng has been selected as the Dutch New Talent 2019 by GUP, and her work has been recognised by various photography awards and competitions worldwide.
