In his series Otherworldly, German photographer Kilian Schönberger captures the strange and surreal earth pyramids of South Tyrol in the Alps, staying from dawn till noon to document these dramatic rock formations. The rocks on top are moraine clay, deposited on the mountain from the Ice Age. Their solid material protects the soil below them from erosion, while the rest of the soil gets swept away by rain.
