Magadi Lake is a rare exemple of an environment natural transformation not due to human intervention. Indeed, the lake is characterized by a high sodium chlorate concentration, produced by the contact between the lake sediments and the underground volcanic activity.

It is a chemical reaction between water and lava. Once, the lake was inhabited by a rich flora and fauna. However, today it is a desert area without any form of life, except for some small plants and migrator birds. The aerial views by Aurélien Gallier are absolutely stunning: the sodium creates incredible draws and lines that are a mix between water, minerals and magma.
