Architectural firm Penda has recently created the installation Rising Canes in Beijing during the Design Week. This sculpture is in the continuity of a way more ambitious project, expected for 2023 : finding solutions to avoid the big cities’ congestions. It would consist in building high structures in bamboos (like tipis with assembled branches) and creating a little city in the heart of the big town, by respecting the environment and the sustainable development. The used concrete would only served for plants coming from Chinese province of Anji (a big region that exports bamboos on an international scale). This urban space would be surrounded by 250 000 hectares of nature and could hosts 200 000 people.
