Architect Nikola Bašić is the author of Sea Organ, built in 2005 : composed of 35 polyethylene tubes and extending on 70 meters, this system swallows waves of the Adriatic Sea (in Croatia) to make a very melodic sound in continuous. Each wave displaces some wind, which gives the sound of a whistle with 7 chords and 5 tones. This piece won the European price of Urban Public Space in 2006 and was inspired by the artwork of Peter Richards and George Gonzalez, The Wave Organ, designed in 1986.
