Rachel Dein has been working in botanical bas-relief for almost 11 years. She collects plants and vegetation of all kinds to create original compositions. Her technique consists of pressing the plants into clay and filling the impressions with plaster, concrete and, more recently, iron powder and resin. The artist currently has several projects underway: a cast of alpine plants from Switzerland and a cast of plants from the garden at Nunnington Hall in Yorkshire, which will culminate in an exhibition in February 2023.
