Faig Ahmed fuses contemporary glitch and distortion with traditional weaving techniques. A recent work entitled “Doubts” is one of his largest pieces which, although of classical form and pattern, seems to ooze into a huge puddle. An astonishing piece, the ornate pattern melts into swirls of color and an amorphous form on the ground.

The artist based in Baku, Azerbaijan said in a statement that he started “Doubts” about a month before the closures due to COVID-19.

“Because of the quarantine, we had to close our textile workshop several times and the artworks were put on hold. A few days ago, after seven months, “Doubts” was finally finished. This carpet illustrates the end of hesitations: by destroying the intelligible geometrical forms of the patterns that overflow on the ground – this is the limit of doubts” he says.
