The Malaysian architect Fabian Tan is at the origin of the “Bewboc House” project, a modern residence based in Kuala Lumpur which gives a new interpretation of the notion of vault. The objective was to redevelop the empty corner of the existing house while maximizing the perception of space. Tan took a minimalist approach and played with the vaulted roof to achieve a breathtaking optical effect and save space. He thus added to the structure of the concrete house this massive extension with a cast concrete barrel vault. “The uninterrupted perspective from inside to outside immediately connects the inside with nature,” Tan explains. A modern and effective way to pay tribute to the landscape by building a pleasant house that focuses on the well-being of those who live there.
