Until the 18th of September, the Hermitage Museum hosts an exhibition paying tribute to a child of Saint-Petersburg who made his career abroad, mainly in France. The pseudonym Erté, comes from the prononciation of the artist’s Roman Petrovich Tyrtov (1892–1990) initials in French, emblematic illustrator of the Art Deco period. It is the first retrospective ever dedicated to this artist in Russia. Visitors can discover there original illustrations for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar ou show costumes. Here is an overview in his unique drawing line which contributed to shape the style of the period.
