Rei Kawakubo is one of the most acclaimed fashion designer in the world. She is the founder of the famous Comme des Garçons brand, a fashion house that changed deeply fashion world during the 80ies by introducing the idea of “anti-fashion”. This movement, was a reaction to the excess of consumerism and a way of denouncing some contemporary world issues. In her collections, she exploits the theme of ugliness by deforming bodies and creating true sculptures. Her fashion is more similar to design than to clothes.
