This colourful glass chair designed by Lithuanian designer Germans Ermics is inspired by a 1976 chair by Japanese product designer Shiro Kuramata. It is intended to give the impression of floating in the air and is actually a nod to 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Called “Ombré chair” it is assembled from glass panels joined together without screws or other visible accessories.
By choosing simple geometrical shapes, the designer plays with different colours in a variety of tones. By using colour applied through an innovative pigmentation process, Ermics is able to create simple and beautiful pieces of high quality.
