The #RunForTheOceans event that took place in Los Angeles on June 8th, enabled adidas to unveil its partnership with Parley and present the new models of adidas | Parley sneakers. These are made from plastic waste collected on beaches before they reach the ocean. Fubiz was on site with the photographer Eliott Fournié to show you the event from the inside.
Thus, two new versions of the famous UltraBOOST were presented. The first available in women’s and men’s styles, has a gradient color from white to turquoise blue.
The second, which is available from June 20, reveals its navy blue color. This color Deep Ocean Blue is inspired by the depths of the Mariana Trench, the deepest point of the ocean located in the Pacific Northwest at nearly 11,000 meters deep. A plastic bag was discovered there.
By unveiling these two models, adidas has found the opportunity to share a strong message. The brand announces that the UltraBOOST Primeknit upper is 85% Parley Ocean Plastic®, which is the equivalent of nearly 11 plastic bottles collected on beaches and coastlines.
Through this partnership, the brand, along with Parley, has the opportunity to spread the message on a large scale, as Matthias Amm, Category Director adidas Running says: “This latest model of UltraBOOST is another important step in our lasting partnership with Parley For the Oceans. Together, we are turning the threat into a tool, and we will continue on this path by investing in eco-innovation over the long term. With the Run for the Oceans movement, our ambition is to motivate runners to support our fight against marine pollution by plastics – every kilometer counts. “
