Polaar is the first solo album of Maud Geffray, the half part of the Scratch Massive French duo. After making her film Kaamos in Lapland, the producer comes back with a yearning of bewitching atmospheres from the coldest lands. Her album sounds like a portrait of a permanently frozen night, permeated of trembling, resonant sounds, as if they were diffused into an incredibly wide surface.
Polaar is a melody from empty spaces, from a bluish world where night never ends and time and places do not mean anything anymore. Adolescence has a crucial place in this nostalgic and pulsating scenario. It is an evocation of old memories from the first parties, the first experiences of rave and long aleatory walks when the Sun goes down.
Perturbing but never scaring, night becomes the place where everything is possible.
A powerful project that is even more meaningful in live, because Maud Geffray’s sound needs vaste spaces and physical vibrations.
Release party on June, the 9th at Gaîté Lyrique, Paris.
