Marija Tiurina is a Russian and Lithuanian artist and illustrator, based in London since 2009. Her work is rich and daring. Especially since, she has experimented with traditional painting methods meeting contemporary ideas, merging sculpture and street arts, re-thinking everyday objects or simply channeling her creative energy into endless artistic products. Today, we talk about her small and colorful drawings. A good way, for her, to represent « quick standalone ideas that can be brought to life in a fast and resultative way ».

Inspired by anything that can come her way, Marija is attentive to what surrounds her: pop culture, literature, conversations with her close ones. « It’s important to always look around, watch and listen. People underestimate the importance of our surroundings, and how a bunch of mundane thoughts can influence the way we create », she concludes.
