Once more, the street artist Banksy seemed to have tried to teach a lesson to Art marketplace. During the selling of one of the most famous artworks of his, Girls With a Balloon, which reached a price of more than a million euros at Sotheby’s, the artwork suddenly started its self-shredding under the astonished eye of the public. It seems that the artist hid a shredder in the excessively large and heavy frame, comically chosen for such a piece of street art.
Quickly taken out of the room, the artwork partially destroyed could actually cost a lot more.
