This abandoned gas station located in London’s White City district has been completely metamorphosed by Craig Redman et Karl Maier. These two inseparables artists that live in two different cities (one in New-York and the other in London) are known for their various collaborations with illustrations and different installations. In this project « Here After », they wanted to « create an immersive installation that transformed the site into a vibrant reflection of the local area’s past and future. It’s still a gas station only in form, so we drew on the language often used in the branding of major gas compagnies such as striped awnings and directional arrows, but applying them in a freer more expressive way to suggest new possibilities and ways forward for the location. The color palette also references a TV test screen as a nod to the gas station’s location opposite Television Centre, the BBC’s former headquarters ».
