Gerhard Richter is a German multidisciplinary artist, born in Dresden, who officially began painting in 1962. Ranging from oil on canvas with painted photographs, Richter has increasingly turned towards abstract paintings, from years 2000. His work tends to sublimate photographs by adding abstract and colorful strokes of paint in order to reveal a landscape looking like a postcard. A complete catalog of his painted photographs will be published in 2017.
