The designer’s creative studio Yinka Ilori customized a skate park in Lille in the cultural center La Condition Publique. The skate park had been built in the final phase of the renovation of the huge 20th century warehouse transformed in 2004 into a place of art and culture under the direction of architect Patrick Bouchain.

Ilori used colour to revisit the old exhibition hall, which is divided by concrete columns, to give the skate park a strong identity and make it a bright and pleasant space for skateboarding.

“Colour brings joy to the park but also gives the indoor skatepark its new identity”, said Ilori in an interview.

For the designer, these colours reflect the joy and adrenaline that skateboarders will feel when using the new space.
