Zak Eazy (the nickname given to him since college) is a 24-year-old artist from Lille. « I am passionate about photomontages. A few weeks ago, I was a graphic project manager in Paris, but I decided to make photomontage my job. So I decided to become an auto-entrepreneur. » he tells us.

Zak had as a starting project to become architecture during his studies. « I really liked the idea of being able to draw, create new buildings and new interior spaces. So I decided to do a STI2D bachelor’s degree, but I quickly realized that the profession of architect did not suit me, because I wanted to do something much more artistic like the photomontage that I discovered in high school with Photoshop, it was love at first sight ! After realizing that I had the wrong bachelor’s degree, I still stayed there to enter in a faculty of Art later, thinking I could express my creativity. Unfortunately, the courses were very accessible on plastic arts, and even if I appreciated them very much, I did not want to make them my work. So I decided to stop my curriculum and train myself on Photoshop via tutorials and online training. » he explains to us.

It was during his job as a graphic project manager in Paris that Zak started his photomontages and published them on his Instagram account, in May 2019. His creations represent different fantastic places and monuments in Lille. « My creations are partly based on Lille and I aspire to quickly create other universes around different cities and other countries. » he tells us.

« I went  back and forth between Lille and Paris almost every day for my job, I needed an escape from this routine. This situation produced my first creation named « Fight his fear » where I express my desire to discover and advance in my personal projects, despite my uncertainties. » he tells us. « Throughout my creations, we can see that they are more and more clear until the creation of January 2020 called « Freedom, Freelance, Freestyle » ; we can see the Stock Exchange of Lille freeing up and sailing on the open sea. This describes my beginning as an auto-entrepreneur. » he adds.

His passion for art ? Zak discovered it thanks to his father. « When I was very young, he introduced me the drawing, the painting, the graph and even the pottery… It was for me a way to broaden my creativity. I started by reproducing manga, landscapes and existing buildings. But over the years, I started to produce my own creations by imagining a whole new world, inspired essentially by great painters of surrealism such as Salvador Dali. I like to combine elements that don’t necessarily have a link or a relationship to create something unique. For example, on my creation of « Lille X Khan Phing Kan », I associate the Chamber of Commerce of Lille with the famous Thai rock. » he tells us.

Through his creations, Zak aimes to make his community curious and encourage people to stay creative. « I wish to challenge and stimulate questions. I like the idea that people can see from a different angle or in a fantastic and imaginary way the monuments and places that we see every day. You have to unlock your creativity in all its forms ! » he finally tells us. Successful bet !
