The “bookworm” pavilion is far from being a classic library. Designed by the architectural firm Nudes, this mobile structure spans over 120 feet long and 40 feet wide, and offers the reader an immersion in a winding book tunnel, between wooden shelves whose movement call to mind the one of waves. Books are stored there in multiple compartments, which the reader can also use as a seat.

Designed to be mobile, the bookcase aims to move around sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia in order to offer access to reading in areas where populations are poorly or not literate. Installed in the gardens of the CSMVS museum in Mumbai until December, the “bookworm” pavilion will then move across India.
