Majestic and imposing, the animals of Bordalo II settle in cities to draw attention to a major issue : the trash production and the pollution that these materials generate. Sensitive to the future of the planet, Arturo Bordalo, a native of Lisbon, denounce an “exaggerated consumerism”, which inevitably leads to the production of waste. This is why the animals of his series “Big Trash Animals”, are part of a recycling process, since they are entirely made from discarded and not reused materials. “The idea is to depict nature itself out of materials that are responsible of its destruction”, summarizes the artist.

Realized between 2012 and 2019, its project has produced 182 artworks, while reusing 59 tons of waste.
