A new wall is making headlines — and it is not a border wall. The unveiling of the “largest living wall in Europe”, the Citicape House by Sheppard Robson, in London aims to combat global warming and growing greenhouse gases and improve local air cleanliness quality.
Located on London’s Culture Mile, a wall composed of 400,000 plants hopes to capture nearly eight tons of carbon and produce six tons of oxygen per year. “On a site that is so prominent, there was a real drive to inject some fresh perspectives on how to grapple with some on London’s most urgent environmental issues, including air quality and noise and dust pollution,” said Dan Burr, partner at Sheppard Robson.
