Amidst the lively bustle of suburban Cangzhou in China lies a 600 square meter space dedicated to tranquility and silence. HIL Architects renovated a series of small shops into a center for yoga and meditation, its architecture inspired by the surrounding wetlands. Running through the main meditation hall is an impressive water garden, which one can cross via a raised platform that leads to different rooms meant for classes and retreats. Dark timber walls, dim lighting and high ceilings all contribute to the calming effect of this stunning meditation center.
