Damon Langlois is a British-Columbia based designer, one of whose specialties is sand carving. He was recently awarded for his incredibly realistic sculpture entitled “Liberty Crumbling” depicting Abraham Lincoln covering his face with his hand, created during the Texas Sandfest, the largest sand sculpture contest in the United States. The sculpture, which came in first place, is in fact a reproduction of the 1920 marble statue in the Lincoln Memorial: Abraham Lincoln, sitting on a crumbling platform, looking exasperated about the situation.
