As part of the 54th edition of the Casa Decor in Madrid, the designer Patricia Bustos created “Wonder Galaxy”, a retro-futuristic dressing room.

With this creation, the designer invites us into another dimension, in the heart of a video game scene. The design of the place comes from reflection on time and more particularly the relationship between the past and the future. We discover a place between reality and fiction in which the fantasy of the past coexists with the magic of the future.

The meeting point between these two dimensions is certainly the use of color. The room is a gradation of pale blue and pink shades, pastel tones and holographic, a colorimetric inspired by the series Thunder Face by Paul Fuentes, tells the artist. Indeed, this gradient of color brings together the energy and fantasy of childhood with the aesthetics of a futuristic world.

Also inspired by Austin Powers’ atmosphere, the space is characterized by rounded shapes, a 70s spirit, and a reference to dreams. Every detail is considered : Placed strategically, lights react differently to the materials to give an unreal aspect to the space. Smart bulbs are placed to fit the decor colors while neon lights give a futurist look. Many mirrors are used to give an illusion of infinite depth to the room. The alcove walls are covered with mosaic referring to the pixels of the video games while bringing a vintage aspect.

All the retro-futuristic furniture has been created specially for the project with key pieces like the “bubble-gum sofa”.
