Artist Andrew McIntoch presents a series of eight paintings that will be exhibited at Peckham’s bo.lee gallery in March. These scenes of deserted urban landscapes are reminiscent of the South London neighbourhoods that inspired the artist to imagine his subjects. Each of these buildings seems outdated and abandoned, some windows are hidden and shop signs are faded. Nevertheless, the surrealist artist transcends these facades by revealing each time a room in the building. Empty but colourful, there is usually a contemporary art painting and a “piece of furniture” – on closer inspection, these are medieval instruments of torture…
