Who would have thought that the 3D models of Professor Allan Drumond of the University of Chicago, carefully designed for scientific and educational purposes, could one day take on an artistic design character? His research on the prehistoric insects whose descendants now haunt our gardens led him to study the complex morphology of many of them. After modelling their fossils in 3D, he printed them and then moulded them into these copper statuettes, whose appearance is strangely reminiscent of a beetle’s shell.
