Tuomas Markunpoika is a finnish artist-designer living in Amsterdam. His collection “Engineering temporality” is inspired from a key episode of his life, when he sees his grand mother, diagnosed with Alzheimer disease, loosing her memories. For this project, he weld randomly small rings in steel, around a selected wooden object. When this object is recovered with his second layer, he will burn it. As a phoenix, the old object will become a new one, only the steel structure will last. The first wooden object is a reference to the memories, it disappears, and only the structure, the strong body, lasts. Thanks to this experiment, the artist pays tribute to his grand mother in an extremely poetic way.
