Two legendary  London-based architecture studios, Foster + Partners et Heatherwick Studios came together to design the mixed-used new district of the Bund, in Shanghai. The theatre they created is a gorgeous piece of art, with a “veil” like facade that moves to adapt to the cultural centre use. Inspired by traditional Chinese theatres, the three-storey building features a curtain-like facade of bronze tubes. These tubes hang in three layers, creating semi-transparent screens in front of windows and balconies. These photographs by Laurian Ghinitoiu show the finished building in all its glory. This is the first major collaboration between Thomas Heatherwick’s and Norman Foster’s firms
