The artistic duo Bigert & Bergström presents the Solar Egg. Both artistic installation and public sauna, the Solar Egg is located in Kiruna, a city in the Swedish Far-North. This project is part of a major urban transformation plan which involves the relocation of entire districts due to the ground subsidence after decades of irion ore mining. The shell is made from gold-plated stainless steel that reflects the city while the egg shape symbolises the rebirth of the town. At the end of the year, Solar Egg will be exhibited in the Swedish Institute in Paris.
