Jorja Smith announces Be Right Back, an eight-track EP due May 14, which precedes an upcoming second album. With the track “Gone,” she recounts the absence of a loved one as she confirms herself as the new diva of the British nu-soul scene.
“I titled it Be Right Back, because I wanted fans to have something to listen to right now. It’s not an album so to speak, because the songs aren’t meant to exist in a project of this scale,” confided Jorja Smith, who, after her sensual jazzy soul ballad about love, “Addicted,” just unveiled this new single. On a sensitive lo-fi production, the artist delivers here “a reflection on how people slip out of our lives”.
