When Ghibli Studio Gives Life to the Oldest Manga in the History

Discover a poetic and beautiful story of the very first manga in the XIIth century.

The Japanese studio Ghibli, created in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki, makes the magic happens by giving life to a “emaki” : an illustrated story to read horizontally, which comes to us of Chōjū-Giga, a book in 4 volumes, presenting beautiful drawings of XIIth and XIIIth centuries. The founders of the studio are very attached to perpetuate the Japanese culture traditions, and this nice story of a frog sharing its umbrella with a rabbit is the proof : extracts of this national treasure are presented everywhere in Japanese museums.
