Calais, located in the North of France, is known to be an important historical city of lace. What could be more logical, to adorned to one of the walls of the City of Lace and Fashion, than to use this pattern? To do so, the Polish artist NeSpoon created a white, realistic mural inspired by a sample of Leavers lace, kept in the museum archives. A true tribute to this emblematic knowledge. In an art statement, the artist explains why she chose to work with this pattern regularly: « In lace, there is an aesthetic code, which is deeply embedded in every culture. In every lace we find symmetry, some kind of order and harmony, isn’t that what we all seek for instinctively ? ».
